How to enable root in Ubuntu

There's nothing new in this post. I don't use Linux very often (because Windows rules!), but I do dabble from time to time. This post (more of a note, really) is mostly for myself, since I end up googling this every time.

Warning: enabling root is not recommended. In other words, if you don't understand what it can lead to, better not do it.

Still, if you really need it, here's how:

sudo passwd root
sudo passwd -u root 

Once you're done playing around, it's better to do this:

sudo passwd -l root
